TERRARIUM COMMUNITY
MUSIC LABEL
Terrarium is home to a DIY community music label that works with communally engaged, trans/queer musicians and sound artists. We provide space, support and access to shared resources for one-time projects and short-term programming.
Our community music label at Terrarium aims to be a multifaceted peer support network, made up of community members who are motivated to engage in meaningful support of fellow musicians and sound artists in their community.
RESIDENCY APPLICATIONS
To inquire about our recording residencies, please reach out via the contact form with (RE: Terrarium Music) in the subject line. Eligibility requires that you are trans*, two spirit or gender diverse and have an expressed need that Terrarium studio can accommodate. We will prioritize applicants based on their need for a trans centered, non-racist/anti-oppressive workspace. At this time we are accepting applications on a project to project basis and can best accommodate DIY recording projects that can happen over the course of a month's time frame (at scheduled day/times in our shared studio space).
Email Applications should include...
- short music or artist bio, including how you fit our community mandate (formal or informal)
- links to previous work or socials if you have them
- a brief project description with as much logistical detail as possible
- estimated time/space/equipment requirements
- a brief description of your availability for project’s completion
If you need support with your application feel free to reach out with questions!
JOIN THE TQMC NETWORK!
The label, run by the Trans/Queer Music Collective (TQMC), is building a network of communally engaged musicians, engineers, producers, organizers and sound artists, connecting and collaborating for the shared goal of fostering growth and development for marginalized, trans/queer creatives in the GTA. If you or your organization would like to offer support through mentorship, donated/subsidized services or can offer opportunities to trans and gender diverse musicians, please contact Eli Howey via the contact form.
